Transition Guide and Coaching

“Nicola uses personal reflection – enhanced by drawing, writing and discussions – to increase our awareness of what we’re present to in our bodies, feelings, and thoughts. She holds a very safe space for whatever comes up for each person. Taking a break for the constant mental chatter and accessing the three centres of intelligence (head , heart and gut)  is the development that is essential to leaders  today. Personally,. I feel greater clarity and  more centred. – this has flowed onto the whole of leadership and life”– SJ Chapman – Executive Coach & Business Owner

Transition Guidance & Coaching

Because change always involves loss — and you don’t have to navigate it alone

Change is the external event: the diagnosis, the ending, the restructure, the unexpected news. Transition is what happens within us as we integrate it. It’s the messy, disorienting, non-linear part so often brushed over. It throws us into disarray. It challenges our identity. And, well supported, it strengthens our character.

Transition guidance is one-to-one support for that terrain — a compassionate, held space to make sense of what’s happening, grieve what’s been lost, and find your way to what comes next.

Is this you?

Life and work happen — the good bits and the hard bits. None of us is immune from a life-limiting diagnosis, a chronic health condition, a relationship breakdown, or the illness or loss of someone we love. You might be navigating:

  • A role that’s ending: redundancy, restructure or retirement
  • The illness or death of someone you love
  • A diagnosis — your own, or someone close to you
  • A relationship breakdown
  • A return to work after life has turned upside down
  • A significant caring responsibility for a loved one
  • A quieter shift — the sense that who you’ve been no longer fits who you’re becoming

These line-in-the-sand moments turn life upside down — and work keeps going. You don’t need to have the words for it yet. You just need a place to begin.

How I work

I provide a compassionate, held space where you can feel safe and be heard. Grief and loss need to be witnessed: when people feel seen, barriers come down and transformation is possible.

I hold a firm belief that every person possesses the innate resources and wisdom to navigate life’s challenges and grow. My role is not to fix you — you are not broken — but to walk alongside you while you find your footing. This isn’t about rushing you to the other side. Transition doesn’t follow a schedule. It’s about helping you stay present to what’s happening, integrate the losses ( there will be many) , and emerge with a clearer sense of who you are and what matters now.

I bring more than 25 years of experience guiding senior leaders through organisational change — and a lifetime of navigating personal transition, including the loss of my husband Jeff, my partner of 33 years, to brain cancer. I trained as a grief educator and end-of-life doula, and I learned this: time doesn’t make grief go away, but it doesn’t take love away either. We can grow around our grief. With the right support, it’s possible to grieve loss, integrate change and keep leading.

Packages

Every engagement begins with a free, no-obligation “Let’s Talk” conversation, so we can explore what you’re navigating and whether this work is the right fit. Choose the package that suits where you are and if you’re not sure, we’ll work it out together.

Let’s Talk — free 30-minute conversation

A chance to share where you are, ask questions and get a feel for how I work. No pressure, no pitch. If this isn’t the right support for you, I’ll say so and help you find what is.

Steadying – Three 60-minute sessions, typically over 4–6 weeks

For when you’re in the thick of it and need support now. Three sessions to steady yourself, make sense of what’s happening, and find your footing in the disorientation. Ideal for a specific, contained transition — or as a first step into deeper work.

Integrating – Six 60-minute sessions, typically over 3–4 months

For the longer arc of transition: letting go of what was, navigating the in-between, and beginning to inhabit what comes next. Six sessions give us room to go beneath the surface — to explore identity, meaning and what matters now — and to build the self-leadership that carries you forward.

Both packages are available to individuals directly, or sponsored by an organisation for one of their people. Packages can also be tailored — some transitions need more time, and that’s okay.

For organisations

Change lands on organisations, but transition lands on people. When one of your team is navigating bereavement, serious illness, redundancy or another life-altering event, a caring manager and supportive policies matter — but they are not enough. EAPs, while well-intentioned, rarely reach people in the right way in these moments.

Sponsoring transition guidance for an impacted team member means they are not alone — and can return to themselves and their work sooner. It signals that your people are seen, valued and supported as whole humans, not just roles. Support that is good for your humans, smart for business.

All sessions are completely confidential to the individual. Organisations receive confirmation of attendance only.

If you’re in the messy middle

It is a privilege to walk alongside people who show up to do this work — and to witness who they become on the other side of change. You don’t have to have it figured out before you reach out.
