I came to the founding of Evolving Leaders through an evolution of my own — one that has included a corporate career spanning more than three decades, a lifelong commitment to personal development, and life’s profound and unexpected events.
During my career I have worked with senior leaders in large organisations across both the private and public sectors, my focus being on organisational development and change. Over time I became a student of leadership, always seeking to answer two questions:
- What does it take for a leader to become an effective agent of change?
- What does leadership look like in a flourishing, human-centred organisation?
In time, both questions led me to understand that successful leadership is less about what you are doing and more about how you are showing up and who you are becoming. It is not a destination but a never-ending journey of self-enquiry and discovery – it’s the work of those who know that change begins with me, and who commit to lifelong learning.
In 2014, I founded Evolving Leaders to put that understanding to work — creating the space and experiences where leaders can reflect, reconnect and refocus in service of themselves and the people they serve.
Then life delivered its own curriculum. In 2023, my husband Jeff — partner of 33 years and father to our three daughters — was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. He died 15 months later. Our lives turned upside down. I stepped away from work for three years. In that time, I came to know transition at a whole new level, as lived terrain: messy, disorienting, non-linear, and ultimately transformational.
I trained as a grief educator and end-of-life doula, not as career moves, but as ways of facing toward what I was living. I learned that time doesn’t make grief go away, but it doesn’t take love away either. I learned that we can grow around our grief, and that with the right support, it is possible to grieve fully and live fully — often in the same moment. I am not the same person I was. I returned to work with a desire to make a more meaningful contribution — and a mission clearer than it has ever been.
Evolving Leaders today
Today, Evolving Leaders carries its founding purpose — evolving the consciousness of leaders to make the world a better place — into a new chapter: toward guiding transitions for people, organisations and a changing world.
I now work as a leadership coach and transition guide: walking alongside leaders navigating unexpected work and life events, coaching leaders in their ongoing development, and helping organisations support their people through the line-in-the-sand moments that turn life upside down.
I offer a compassionate, held space where, amidst life’s most challenging and unexpected events, people can feel safe, be heard and find the support they need. Through practical, emotional and developmental guidance, I help people make new meaning and find their way forward. We each hold the innate resources and wisdom to navigate life’s challenges and grow, and it is a privilege to witness the transformation that becomes possible on the other side of human suffering and loss.
This, in essence, is the same work I have always done — change begins with me, carried now into the most human territory of all.
In my spare time you will find me doing the things that nourish me — tending the vegie patch, hiking a mountain, reading a good book, or sharing a meal with the people that I love.
